The event opens with our Preview night on Friday, August 25 (see below) and continues from August 26 through September 10, 2023, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
Pottery Perspectives 2023 is the 21st annual event that has lured collectors, art patrons and hundreds of others who simply love beautiful functional pottery.
Upwards of 4,000 pieces of pottery created by some of the most gifted ceramic artists in Georgia will be for sale.
Selections by Sandy Culp
On view in the Hall Gallery will be selections by Sandy Culp. Culp is a naturalist sculptor who loves to show the relationship between women and nature, sometimes surrealistically. Her forté is trompe l’oeil, and she finds it exhilarating to create a sculpture that not only “fools the eye” but may be surprisingly functional. Each piece, after endless research, is meticulously hand done using sculpting and carving techniques to be truly unique and individual even within a common theme of her repertoire.
Workshop: Inspirations: Texture, Form, and Function: Explorations in Wheel, Handbuilding, and Surface Decoration with Martha Cook
On Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, well-known potter Martha Cook will provide a demonstration only workshop entitled “Inspirations: Texture, Form, and Function, Explorations in Wheel, Handbuilding, and Surface Decoration.” Martha will demonstrate mugs, bowls, vases, pitchers and more using both wheel and handbuilding techniques. She will share her inspirations and ideas while demonstrating a variety of surface decorations such as slip applications, stamps, mishima, kohiki, and texture.. The workshop is $175 for OCAF members, and $225 for non-members.
